Blizzard confirms a feature for Diablo 4 that fans have been wanting since release

The developers of Diablo 4 are currently announcing new features for Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred. Now Blizzard has confirmed a feature that will make traveling and other activities in the ARPG easier.

In Diablo 4, every region has a capital city, and with Vessel of Hatred, another one is added: Kurast. If you use the function of your portal, you will land in the capital of the region you are in. However, players have wanted to be able to set a favorite city almost since the release.

In July 2024, Blizzard invited several experts to test the new class, the Spiritborn. One of them paid meticulous attention to all the new features and tried out everything he could find to analyze later. He noticed there that you can mark cities as favorites.

Blizzard has now confirmed the new feature and explained when players will be able to use it.

What kind of feature is this? It’s about the feature of marking cities as favorites in Diablo 4. This allows you to get to the city you like to visit the most with one click. Some cities simply have a better layout than others and are more “comfortable”.

When will the feature be available? In a post on X, Diablo expert “Rob2628” explains that the feature to mark a favorite waypoint is coming to Diablo 4. Diablo boss Rod Fergusson shared the post on August 26 on X and added: “Yes! It’s coming to the base game on October 8th!”

The first expansion for Diablo 4, Vessel of Hatred, will be released on October 8th. In the video you can see some of the new content that will be added to the game:

“Finally no more Gea Kul”

How is this received? The new feature is being discussed in the community in a thread on Reddit. Many users share their favorite cities and also highlight some of the benefits that this feature can bring.

In the commentary, “Uhdoyle” writes: “Cerrigar is absolutely the best city, and it’s hard to say why after so many changes to the cities. The traders may be closer together in each city now, but Cerrigar is simply the original.”

And “alisonstone” notes that all the cities are now “pretty decent” after Season 4, after the traders were brought closer together. Gea Kul is the only one that is really bad. The top comment comes from “Em4gdn3m”. He writes: “Good, no more Gea Kul.”

Many players also see advantages in the new function for the bounty missions for the “Whispering Tree”. “Winter_Ad_2618” writes: “I’m so excited about it!! It will make the whisper tasks so much better.” Up until now, you had to teleport to the waypoint at the “Whispering Tree” yourself, which was often tedious. The new favorites function makes this much easier.

And “Chet_Steadman” sees another advantage: “It’s definitely a really nice quality of life change for the Helltides. I always get hit by demons spawning while I’m trying to port, so I just have to use a city port and then port to the tree from there.”

What do you think of the favorites function for waypoints? Which city will you mark? Let us know in the comments. With the expansion “Vessel of Hatred” on October 8th, another area will be added to the game, including new waypoints that you can then mark as favorites. You can also recruit mercenaries – your new best friends in Diablo 4. They will get a kind of “hideout” that can also be reached with a waypoint.
