At World of Warcraft there is a discussion about whether WoW has become too difficult for “normal” players. Blizzard President Mike Ybarra believes Asmongold’s criticism of WoW is that it’s too bad for heroic and mythical raids. The Twitch streamer who hasn’t raided for 7 years responds to this.
That was the situation:
The criticism from the Blizzard boss in turn called Asmongold onto the scene, who justified himself. More about Asmongold:
Asmongold says: Raids in WoW have become too difficult since 2010
What does Asmongold have to say about this? Asmongold essentially agrees with the allegations. If you play too little WoW, you lose touch. But even if you play WoW as a job, you can no longer understand the perspective of the normal player. Because the normal player does not gamble WoW that much.
Ultimately, everyone has their own views and one is as good as the other.
Asmongold believes that since Cataclysm (2010) WoW raids have become too difficult for most “normal players”:
According to Asmongold, WoW players were also starting to tackle the heavier raids with more and more sophisticated addons at the time.
As Asmongold explains, the constantly increasing level of difficulty of the raids is a visible problem for Blizzard: because statistically speaking, participation in the raids is going down more and more. WoW Hardcore is now a reaction to the fact that hardly anyone wants to play the new, difficult raids.
Asmongold assures: He has no problem at all with Mike Ybarra and does not take the criticism personally. He even likes the man.
Why did Asmongold stop raiding? Asmongold says his main reason to stop raiding 7 years ago was because it clashed with his twitch stream. When he was doing guild and raid stuff he had to turn off or mute the stream, which bored his viewers and ultimately hurt his stream.
Today he doesn’t want to invest any more time in the raid because raids don’t feel rewarding: every 4 months you have to renew your equipment as a raider, which devalues it.
How does Asmongold himself view his criticism? The streamer maintains a modest demeanor in the video, saying he’s willing to change his mind if someone provides him with conclusive data that contradicts his views. He says he’s trying to base his criticism on data and is willing to change his mind.
But at the moment Asmongold seems to take the view that the “hard raids” in WoW are made for too few players and that he liked raiding in the days of Wrath of the Lich King much better than now.
