Blizzard announced event for more gold and XP in Diablo 4 – but it’s taking a while

In Diablo 4, the “Mother’s Blessing” event, where you can farm XP and gold, was supposed to start on August 20th. However, it’s still a while away.

What kind of event is this? The Mother’s Blessing event is set to start in Sanctuary on August 20th and will give you bonuses for XP and gold. All players on the eternal realm, in the seasonal realms, and at all world levels will receive the following bonuses:

  • 35% more XP
  • 50% more gold
  • Patch 1.5.1 was also announced for the day and was not only supposed to bring bug fixes to the game, but also gifts for all players. The patch only went live late in the evening, your gift is in the game – but the event is still a while away.

Where is the event? If you are currently starting Diablo 4, no XP bonus is activated yet, as it should be. The “Mother’s Blessing” event is delayed. In a post on X, Community Manager Adam Fletcher writes:

The team is investigating the Mother’s Blessing items. It will most likely require a hotfix and we are working on the timing.

Regardless, we are considering extending this event for some time or extending a future event to make up for the lost time.

The team will provide the community with further updates shortly, notes Fletcher. We will update the article accordingly.

What was still unclear? Patches in Diablo 4 often go live around 7 p.m. German time. However, that was not the case on August 20th and the patch only came out late in the evening. However, the announced gift also caused uncertainty in the community.

After patch 1.5.0, there was an error that the chest with “guaranteed GA items” in the Infernal Hordes did not drop any GA items. Therefore, all players should get a chest with legendaries that are guaranteed to have “Greater Affixes”. However, on X and Reddit, various users wondered where their chest had gone after the patch – including “tonitz4493” in his Reddit post.

Blizzard has added an explanation in the patch notes. The chest is “hidden” in the reputation system “Mother’s Gift.” You can pick up your chest there:

Characters who have completed and claimed the level 20 reward from the Mother’s Gift can claim their large affixed item from the next repeatable reward. Please note that the item will be shared separately from the repeatable chest and not within it.

For characters who are going through the Mother’s Gift rewards for the first time, the item with the large affixes will be in the [Kiste auf Stufe 20] We apologize for the initial inconvenience and thank you all for your patience.

Currently, Blizzard regularly releases hotfixes that iron out errors in Diablo 4 or nerf skills. A strong build of the sorceress caused problems and overloaded the servers. Blizzard is making improvements to Diablo 4 with a hotfix on August 15th.
