Blinken in Davos The suffering of the innocent in Gaza

Blinken hoped for progress in resolving the conflict in the Middle East. He stressed that a reformed Palestinian government is needed, which is also accepted by Israel.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called for progress in the Middle East conflict resolution at the Davos Economic Forum.

According to Blinken, Israel needs to feel safe, and at the same time a path to a Palestinian state is needed. Otherwise, there will be no security in the area.

In Blinken’s opinion, part of the solution is a reformed Palestinian administration, which serves the people better, but which operates with the support of Israel. The Palestinian Authority will have to struggle if the Israeli government opposes it.

Regarding the current war in Gaza, Blinken stated that the suffering of innocent Palestinians breaks his heart. According to him, the United States has pressured Israel to comply with its obligations.

At the same time, Blinken states that no country would accept a repeat of the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel. It is difficult to overestimate the psychological impact of a terrorist attack in Israel, he pointed out.

Blinken also stated that the biggest poison in the world is dehumanization, not seeing humanity in another.

UN: International law is being trampled on in Gaza

Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres said in his own speech in Davos, Switzerland, that the parties to the Gaza conflict are trampling on international law: the Geneva Conventions and even the UN Charter.

– The world watches from the sidelines as civilians are killed, maimed, bombed and forced from their homes, and they are denied humanitarian aid, Guterres scolded.

He called for a humanitarian cease-fire in Gaza and hurried the process that would bring lasting peace to Israel and the Palestinians based on the two-state model.
