Sweden’s national team star Stina Blackstenius opened the goal celebration already in the fifth minute of the game. The striker got free and put the lead goal into the roof of the net.
Arsenal then extended their lead to 2–0 before “Spurs” reduced the deficit with six minutes remaining in the first half.
In the second half, it was Arsenal for all the money. Jonas Eidevall’s team played the entire register and won with a clear 5-1 after Frida Leonhardsen Maanum, formerly in Linköping, entered the score sheet. Lina Hurtig sat on the bench the entire match.
With the big win, Arsenal overtakes Manchester United and moves up to second place in the table, two points behind league leaders Chelsea, who have played a game less.
There are a couple of tough games ahead for Blackstenius Arsenal in the near future. On Wednesday, they will try to overturn a 0-1 deficit against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final second leg. Next, in-form Manchester City awaits in the league game before a national team break.
