New twist in TV rights in Ligue 1 with the Dazn platform that threatens to withdraw before the end of the season.
The TV rights affair is now a very sad soap opera. According to information from RMC Sport This Wednesday, April 2, the streaming platform would threaten its contract before the end of the season, causing an unprecedented black screen on the French championship.
While a mediation has been in place for several weeks after blocking part of Dazn’s payment (35 million), negotiations are not advancing and the platform could let go. In negotiations, Dazn would try to obtain a fixed part and a variable part on the sum paid to clubs. The variable share would depend on the degree of respect for very precise commitments of the clubs (interviews with prestigious players, but also to be able to shoot subjects in more exclusive places).
If the negotiations remain in a standstill, Dazn would think of breaking his diffuser contract earlier than what the exit clause allows it after two seasons and activated next December.
