Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies Terminus cinematic trailer and details. New characters, Dark Aether story and gameplay features.
Publisher Activision and developers Treyarch and Raven Software have released a new trailer and information introducing the story behind one of the two “Zombies” launch maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which continues the Dark Aether storyline and introduces the Terminus squad along with new character Maya Aguinaldo.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies: Dark Aether Story
In the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War timeline, after two years of battling undead outbreaks across the globe, the CIA-led Requiem team finally managed to close the last remaining dimensional portal, sending its inhabitants back to the nightmarish hellscape known as the Dark Aether. However, the team’s success came at a heavy price. Agent Samantha Maxis sacrificed herself to seal the twisted dimension from within. To make matters worse, Requiem’s senior personnel were unceremoniously arrested on the orders of Project Director Edward Richtofen.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies continues the Dark Aether storyline, delving deeper into Richtofen’s motivations and goals while exploring the fates of key characters. For years, former Requiem personnel – Grigori Weaver, Mackenzie “Mac” Carver, Elizabeth Grey, Oskar Strauss, and Stoney Maddox (Raptor One) – were imprisoned at Terminus, a mysterious garrison located in the Philippine Sea.
These characters have undergone significant mental and physical changes after over five years of imprisonment. Grigori Weaver is no stranger to the ever-changing nature of war. Despite the guilt he feels for his perceived “failure” as the team’s commander, he is determined to expose his former Director’s duplicity.
Elizabeth Grey was a docile scientist who was blind to the realities of the Dark Ether threat. However, the injustice of her imprisonment brought out a harsher side in her. Her transformation under Carver’s mentorship made her capable of confronting any threat.
Carver, though he has lost faith in the military, has grown more loyal to his friends and colleagues, while Strauss, under the burden of incarceration, has become deeply dependent on his colleagues.
Events take an explosive turn when young Filipina smuggler Maya Aguinaldo arrives on the island, accompanied by Dr. William Peck. Although Aguinaldo and Peck are there to free our heroes, their arrival coincides with Terminus Island becoming the epicenter of another outbreak.
It quickly becomes clear that the chaos at Terminus is not the only attack from the Dark Aether. The West Virginia town of Liberty Falls is also facing its own zombie onslaught. Their dire circumstances mean that this disparate group of battle-hardened heroes have no choice but to fight together for survival.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on October 25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.
