Black Desert brings relaxed grinding

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Black Desert Online takes place primarily in an open world. Leveling works for the most part by grinding monsters, which can be taken away from you by other players and there are constant arguments about the grind spot. The developers now want to tackle this problem. We at MeinMMO summarize.

How does grinding work in BDO? In Black Desert Online, the main way you level up is by defeating hordes of monsters. You get experience points and loot and the poor creatures will spawn again in front of you after a few minutes.

This so-called “grinding” takes place in the open world of BDO. So it can happen that you have to fight with other players for your place and the monsters that appear there. This is unfortunately the order of the day, especially in the popular areas of the MMORPG and ruins the fun of many fans.

The developers of BDO are now taking on exactly this problem and are introducing the “Marni’s Secret Room”. With this option you can farm in peace, but only for one hour a day.

Why only so short? The developers explain that they don’t want to destroy the basic feel of an MMORPG by sending players into their own separate worlds for too long. Many were internally convinced that an hour was short, others felt it was too long. For the start phase, however, it will remain at one hour per day.

For these reasons, you cannot take time into the next day or buy more time in Marni’s room for real money. The developers do not plan that the time in this room can be extended. However, later changes from the developer side are possible.

A room of your own – almost everywhere

How exactly does this work? For now, these solo instances will only be available on predetermined maps. However, these are to be expanded further and new areas will be added over time. Initially, the developers want to focus on the most popular zones.

So if you’re in Tshira, Elvia, Ronaros and Co., you can use F5 to call up the menu and enter Marni’s Secret Room. You then come into a solo instance of this zone and can comfortably farm there for an hour a day without being interrupted or annoyed.

When you leave the room, time stops. So you can definitely use up your whole hour and even split it into different areas.

What else changes? Nothing at all. If you enter the Secret Room, all other players will disappear except you. The monsters will continue to spawn in the same rates and identical slots as in the open world. The drop chances or experience points do not change either.

Once in the zone, you can enter the area at any time

“That’s why I stopped playing”

How is the community reacting? She is positively surprised by the feature, although there are also some negative points that fans have. First and foremost, the tenor in reddit is positive. People think it’s a good idea that you don’t have to fight over grind spots as much and you can farm in peace if you want to.

A negative aspect that is also discussed, however, is that Black Desert is moving a little further towards solo play, while many fans think it should go the other way. The desire for more multiplayer content reverberates strongly here. Nevertheless, the mood around the Secret Room is very positive.

What are the fans saying? In a thread on reddit, players are discussing the topic. We would therefore like to share some points of view with you (via reddit):

  • LaggingIRL writes, “Well, I like the idea of not being constantly bothered when I want to loot. For people like me […] this will be a great addition!”
  • Puppetmaster says, “No matter how it goes, it’s definitely going to result in a lot more players grinding a solid hour a day because of the feature.”
  • Venoid is happy too: “Being constantly interrupted was the reason why I quit the game 2 years ago. I hated it. Now you can really think about going back.”
  • SmolikOFF writes: “I’m a bit conflicted about this. It’s great that you can now grind in peace and I’ll probably use it all the time myself. On the downside, that’s just another feature that’s only for single-player players.”
  • What do you think? Would you like to grind alone in BDO or do you also think that the feature goes in the wrong direction? Write it to us in the comments here at MeinMMO.

Black Desert is often criticized for Pay2Win. But MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch says: “An MMORPG is so strong Pay2Win that I can only laugh at the criticism of Lost Ark and Black Desert”.
