On Saturday morning came the news that the artist Svenne Hedlund had passed away, aged 77. Svenne Hedlund broke through as a singer in the pop group Hep Stars in the 1960s. It was one of Sweden’s most popular groups with hits such as “Sunny Girl” and “Cadillac”.
Another of the members of Hep Stars was Benny Andersson, who later became a world artist with Abba. Another Abba member, Björn Ulvaeus, guested on Nyhetsmorgon on Saturday shortly after the news of Svenne Hedlund’s death came.
– I knew him very well and this was very heavy. I had no idea he was bad. He was without competition the most popular figure in pop music, says Björn Ulvaeus.
