Björn is suspected of being a human in a suit – visitor boom in the zoo

Recently, a clip from a Chinese zoo depicting a bear went viral. Social media users have accused the zoo that the bear is actually a human in an ill-fitting bear suit. In the clip, you can see how the bear is standing on two legs and that the bear’s fur is then wrinkled, which some people claim is a sign that it is in fact a costume.

Despite the viral spread of the clip of the bear from Hangzhou Zoo in China, the zoo states that there is no hoax and announces that the bear is a Malayan bear, which has such an appearance. Malayan bears are a relatively small type of bear, compared to other bears. The Malay bear is a maximum of 130 centimeters standing on its hind legs.

Visitor boom as a result of the viral clip

The viral clip has now led to a visitor boom for the Chinese zoo, with 20,000 people visiting Hangzhou Zoo in eastern China every day. The number of visitors corresponds to an increase of 30 percent, writes Sky News.
