Stina Nilsson ends her career in biathlon.
Now Björn Ferry opens his mouth with harsh words.
– It hasn’t gone well, says the expert to SVT.
After four years as a biathlete, the big farewell now comes from Stina Nilsson. She didn’t quite get it right and has decided to end her biathlon career altogether.
Stina changes sports
Instead, Stina will change sports again and start long-distance running next season. In the future, Ski Classics await the 30-year-old, and now one of the reasons behind the decision to leave biathlon is also revealed.
– I assume that she will not make the national team for biathlon and then it will be difficult to make that investment yourself, when you do not have the confidence, says the SVT expert Bjorn Ferry.

The Swede himself admits how the talk went with the national team management for the coming season.
– I had a good dialogue with Johannes (Lukas, national team manager) before the season ended, and we both came to the conclusion that if I am to be able to develop as a biathlete in the future, it needs to be outside of a national team. That’s why it didn’t come as a shock to me that I wasn’t offered a place, says Stina herself to SVT.
Ferry’s harsh words
When Ferry gets to summarize Nilsson’s four-year career as a biathlete, the big saw emerges.
– She had the capacity in her very best moments and she did reach the podium. But if you look generally at how the investment has gone, it is a big failure. Stina Nilsson herself probably thinks so too, and everyone around her. It hasn’t gone well, admits the SVT profile.
– If biathlon had been classic, it would have suited Stina Nilsson much better. But they stopped doing that in the mid-80s. Without biathlon is skate and it is clear that it does not suit her perfectly. Therefore, it is much easier to drive long distances.

Stina Nilsson has already signed a two-year contract for a Norwegian team and Björn Ferry is convinced that the new sport will suit her much better.
– Long-distance running suits Stina better than biathlon, because she is better at classical and she already has a good sprint. It is a logical change that she does it now, says the TV expert.
– I think she can be quite good, but not quite at the top.
