Stina Nilsson has been poked by the Swedish national biathlon team.
Now SVT expert Björn Ferry explains why.
– Even if she were to shoot fully, it won’t be enough, he says to the TV channel.
Many have worried about it and the experts have warned against it. On Tuesday morning, the news came that Stina Nilsson is poked by the Swedish national biathlon team and may no longer compete in the World Cup.
Stina poked
Stina has had a tough start to the new season and only managed a 69th place and an 84th place in her two World Cup races so far. Due to illness, she has not found her top form at the start of the season and the disappointment has been palpable.

Therefore, Nilsson is not allowed to accompany the rest of the national team to the World Cup weekend in Hochfilzen, Austria, but instead remains on Swedish soil. The 30-year-old can now focus on the IBU Cup in Idre next weekend.
– For me, the most important thing is to be able to compete and I’m looking forward to being able to compete at Idre Fjäll. Two sprints and a chase start suit me well and it should be fun, writes Nilsson in a comment to SVT.
Ferry explains
The SVT expert Bjorn Ferry now explains why Stina Nilsson is no longer allowed to compete in the World Cup.
– It’s hard to say for me because I don’t have full visibility. But it must still be the case that the training system she follows doesn’t really seem to be working. Stina drives too slowly. Even if she were to shoot fully, it still won’t be enough, he tells the TV channel.

Ferry has been clearly critical of Nilsson’s efforts during the start of the season and thinks that development has gone backwards instead of forwards. Which is very concerning when she is in her fourth season as a biathlete after making the high-profile switch from cross-country skiing.
– She is a minute and a half behind in seven and a half kilometers. It’s way too much. Secondly, it’s the shooting. The first season started quite promisingly. It was thought that it was good for a beginner. But then it has stopped a little bit there, just over 70 percent and it is not enough against the best in the world, explains the TV expert.
