Björn Ferry sees the men’s biathlon after the fiasco competition

The Swedish biathlon men had a total of 32 barriers during the World Cup competition in Kontiolax.
SVT expert Björn Ferry was really disappointed after the race.
– Those are rough booms. It’s a firing error, he says in the broadcast.

After a weekend marked by single mixed successes thanks to Ella Halvarsson and Sebastian Samuelsson many Swedes had gotten their hopes up just in time for Tuesday’s individual World Cup competition for the men. It turned out to be a blue-yellow fiasco.

Björn Ferry’s performance against the Swedes

The distance race of 15 kilometers became a real nightmare for Sebastian Samuelsson, Jesper Nelin, Martin Ponsiluoma and the gang. Nelin was the best Swede in the finish in 33rd place. In total, the Swedes shared 32 barriers, an average of five per rider.
– Yes, tough start when you know how much they have worked with the shooting and all that. And then this thing about it not being the wind that does it. He ends up quite far out with several barriers. It’s like if you forget to screw, you end up either edge in or out. It’s nothing more than that, says one angrily Bjorn Ferry in SVT.

He also believes that there is no excuse for the Swedes to be so bad. There was no wind or severe weather conditions. It was simply too low a level of shooting.
– Those are rough booms. It’s a misfire, says Ferry.

The Swedish fiasco in Kontiolax

Björn Ferry gets the support of his fellow commentator Ola Branholm. He is also of the opinion that the Swedes really have nothing to blame. Their competitors coped with the shooting gallantly and many went through the competition without missing a single shot.
– And it’s not a competition where it’s impossible to shoot either. Stromsheim shoots full. Laegreid shoot full, Madzyn shoot full, Your shoot full, Krcmar shoots full. It’s a group that comes through with four zeroes today and the Swedes are on four, six, seven bars, says Branholm.

The competitions in Kontiolax continue until December 8. On Wednesday, the ladies run their short distance (12.5 kilometers) and at the weekend the sprint and mass start await. There are thus opportunities for the Swedes to take revenge.

This was not fun for the Swedish gentlemen. What a miscalculation! Many of us had expected more.
