Over the past ten years, former biathlete Björn Ferry has mostly hung in SVT’s winter studio.
Recently, however, he made a comeback in the ski track.
“I got hit by some men’s juniors but still held a respectable speed!”, He writes on Instagram.
The immensely popular Björn Ferry46, began his career as a biathlon at the elite level in 2001. When he rounded over 13 years later, he had managed to win an Olympic gold in Vancouver in 2010 and three World Cup medals. He was also awarded the award this year’s performance at the Sports Gala for his impressive victory in the Olympic hunting start.

Quite immediately after Björn put the rifle and skis on the shelf, he took the step to become an expert and commentator in SVT’s winter studio, where he sits with, among others André PopsThe Yvette Hermundstad and Mona Brorsson And talk in winter sports in general and biathlon in particular. When he comments he usually does it with Ola Bränholm.

It has never become relevant to him and wife Heidi Andersson (and their two children) to move to Stockholm so that he gets closer to his job. The family thrives well in Storuman in southern Lapland where they, among other things, deal with forestry. Björn Ferry still commutes to the SVT studio at Gärdet every weekend he works. There will be many hours on trains for the environmental fighter.

Recently, the Olympic hero showed on its social media that the beats are still sitting in, even though this year it will be eleven years since he ended his career as an elite athlete. He still keeps running a lot with running, skis and roller skis. On Instagram he published a movie clip where you see him ski in a proper uphill. It turns out that he was in a real race, Järvsjörennet.

Probably because there were not so many participants in the competition, but Ferry still stood for a stable effort. However, he was beaten by some youngsters on the 10 km long race.
“I took on the number plate in Järvsjöby yesterday. 10 km free. Nice arrangement in brilliant weather. I got hit by some men’s juniors but still held a respectable speed! ”, He writes.
