A bird flew into a power line and caused an explosion and a power outage in Bollnäs on Wednesday morning, which P4 Gävleborg was the first to report on.
– The caller sees an explosion and a cloud of white smoke, so we go to the scene. On site, we can confirm that it is a burnt bird that has flown into the power line, says Anders Lindgren.
According to the radio, the smoke must have been seen inside central Bollnäs. The incident occurred just before seven in the morning.
– There was a burnt bird by the power line.
– The line hung down so it is affected and burnt. We cordoned off the place until the emergency services got there, says Lindgren.
Around 400 people are said to have been without power.

The prognosis for how long the power outage will last is unclear, according to the emergency services. The bird did not survive.
