Around 7,700 of Eon’s customers were without power on Tuesday. After thorough troubleshooting, Eon believes he has found the answer – a bird that flew into a pipe, reports Ystad Allehanda.

The badly burned bird is under an overhead line, but it is impossible to determine what kind it is.

– It was simply not possible to decide, but it is probably a larger bird, says Björn Persson at Eon’s press office to the newspaper.

He says that the company has replaced many overhead lines and buried them. Where it is not possible to dig, the overhead lines have been insulated to withstand blown and falling trees.

– If it is open ground, it is not as high a priority to insulate the overhead lines, and that may have been the case here, says Björn Persson

The power went in a large area in Tomelilla, Sjöbo and Ystad municipalities. Tomelilla was hit the hardest, where, among other things, shops had to send customers home and the Tosselilla amusement park had to close.
