BinBin releases official statement on scooter recall process

The BinBin front also shared an official statement regarding the agenda of recalling electric scooters based in Istanbul.

Electric scooter services, which have been in our lives for a while as well as globally, are a very effective method, especially in short distances. Parallel to the increase in the number of suppliers in this field in Turkey, there are more options than ever before on pavements. This situation has recently turned into a “pavement occupation” in the eyes of pedestrians. The recall step, brought to the agenda by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is currently on the agenda. Binbin, one of the prominent service providers, also published a statement on the subject.

Thousand Thousand; “We share the data with the necessary places”

The official explanation text shared is as follows;

Electric scooters are rapidly becoming widespread all over the world as an environmentally friendly and practical alternative to transportation in big cities such as Istanbul where traffic problems are experienced. As BinBin, we sincerely support all the arrangements made to ensure that these new vehicles in traffic exist in a way that supports city life. We believe this is important for the long-term sustainability of all micromobility and shared transportation solutions, especially scooters.

In this context, we quickly adapt to the regulations enacted on the subject, and we take care to work closely and cooperate with local governments. We believe in the importance of parking spaces to prevent parked scooters from obstructing pedestrians. Therefore, by sharing the necessary data with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation, we help them determine the density of scooters and more effectively determine the parking areas they will create according to the resulting heat map.

In addition, as BinBin, we have been developing and implementing our scooter parking station work, which everyone will take as an example, since the day we entered the sector. As of today, we have created a total of 58 scooter parking stations in front of public transportation stops and shopping malls in 8 cities. Our efforts to create new stations continue uninterruptedly, and we aim to increase the number of parking stations by 5 times by the end of 2023. Our field teams make every effort to collect incorrectly parked vehicles as soon as possible.

We have also implemented practices that will encourage our users to leave their vehicles in BinBin or municipal parking areas instead of roadsides. By defining discounts for our users if they park their devices in designated areas, we ensure that our users play an active role in positioning our scooters in a way that facilitates city life.

Finally, in the Kadıköy Region, which has come to the fore due to the number of scooters far above the determined limits, we continue our activities in accordance with the quota of our company out of the total number of legally determined scooters, and that our scooters arriving in the region as a result of the drives of our users from neighboring districts will be balanced by our own operation team in the fastest way possible. We inform the public that we take action accordingly. In the upcoming period, we will continue to work in cooperation with all authorities in order to carry out our operations in a way that will not disrupt daily life in all cities we are in, but on the contrary, will facilitate it.”
