The British heir to the throne, Prince Charles, received a multimillion-dollar donation from the family of slain terrorist Osama bin Laden, reports The Times.

The donation, which is said to have been one million pounds (roughly twelve million Swedish kronor in today’s monetary value), is reported to have been given to the prince in October 2013, i.e. more than two years after al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed by American security services.

According to the newspaper, the prince personally received the money at his Clarence House residence from bin Laden family patriarch Bakr bin Ladin and his brother Shafiq. They are both half-brothers of Osama bin Laden.

The money is reported to have been transferred to the Prince of Wales Charitable Foundation (PWCF).

Advisers to Prince Charles are said to have advised him not to accept the donation.

There is no indication that either Bakr or Shafiq have had any connection whatsoever to the half-brother’s terrorist activities. On the contrary, they are reported several times to have distanced themselves from terror and from al-Qaeda. They are also both said to have broken contact with their half-brother after the terrorist attack in the United States on September 11, 2001.
