Bilthoven producer Stint prosecuted Aware of defects before fatal accident

Much has been said and written about the vulnerabilities of the Stint since the accident, including in reports by researchers from TNO, the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT), the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) and the Dutch Labor Inspectorate. According to the Public Prosecution Service, other experts also concluded that the product was unsafe on numerous points. For example, it did not meet the safety requirements as laid down in the Machinery Directive, a European directive with safety criteria that machines must meet. Research has also shown that the Stint did not have a proper brake construction, no brake switch, a faulty throttle lever, no start-up protection and no presence detection.
