Sten-Åke Lindholm founded Biltema

One of the big companies is the Swedish retail chain Biltema, which was founded in 1963 by Sten-Åke Lindholm.

Back then, the company was far from what we know it as today. From the beginning, it was located in a basement in Linköping, from where they sold cheap spare parts for cars that were bought directly from the manufacturers.

Lindholm came to be active in the company until the turn of the millennium, when he left the role as CEO. In the same vein, he moved to Switzerland.

Despite the move, the future is bright for the family empire. Lindholm’s only grandchild and heir is Louise Backströmwho is expected to rule the empire further.

According to information, Bäckström has a fortune of around three billion kroner.

Together with the assets, however, Bäckström ended up in the spotlight in the summer of 2023. The reason was then an infected divorce dispute from the ex-husband Martin Wennberg.

The ex-husband was sentenced to prison after reportedly leaking information about the conflict between the parties.

Over the years that have passed since the company was founded in that basement in Linköping, Biltema has expanded and grown into a huge business empire. Today, they sell everything from spare parts and furnishings to boat engines and car-themed sausages, which have grown into a real classic.

Between the years 2019 and 2023, the annual turnover increased from 5.7 billion to over 7.2 billion.

In other words, that it is going well is an understatement. In 2023, the company also had assets that were measured at a breathtaking SEK 3.4 billion.

2023 was also the year when Biltema made a net profit of more than 589 million. Compared to the year before, 2022, the profit increased by an incredible SEK 152.5 million.

Not bad.
