Bills Pichetto government evaluates mechanisms for exiting the protected market

(Finance) – The Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Picketstated that “assessments by the government on the mechanism for ferrying out of the protected market of domestic customers, and in particular the vulnerable, taking into account theinstability of energy prices in this historical phase. The timing and methods of the transfer are being evaluated”. Responding to a question on the end of the protected energy market for domestic customers during the question time in the Senate, Pichetto assured that “the Government is aware of the relevance of this transition and , in particular, of the importance of accompanying this change with adequate information activity, so that maximum awareness is promoted on the part of users and the completion of market liberalization represents a real benefit for them”.

L’objectiveexplained the minister, is to “convey the correct information on the current legislation regarding market opening, on the characteristics of the gradual protection service, on the related ones timingon obligations and on rights of end customers, as well as on market opportunities in terms of potential advantages deriving from a plurality of transparent and comparable offers. Users must also be informed of the tools available to them for an informed choice of suppliers and offers as well as protection tools”.

The actions, he continued, “will be implemented within the time frame necessary to guarantee the full effectiveness of the interventionswith adequate advance notice, as well as close to the actual transfer of the points Of supply to new merchants assigned the gradual protection service, in order to effectively encourage active choice from the customer”.

Minister Pichetto then recalled that the first meeting of the Environment took place this morning at the Ministry of the Environment National Platform for Sustainable Nuclear Energy which “has the objective of defining within certain times a path aimed at the possible resumption of the use of nuclear energy in Italy and the growth opportunities of the national industrial chain already operating in the sector”.

“The priority objective – he added – will be to develop guidelines over the course of a few months Road mapwith a horizon of 2030 and 2050, to follow and coordinate the developments from the new technologies nuclear in the medium and long term, with particular attention to Small modular reactor (SMR) and ai fourth generation reactors (AMR) and understand the possible impacts of these technologies in terms of security and cost-benefits of the system”. “The results of the Platform’s work will be the basis for evaluating the development and adoption by Italy of a National strategy for sustainable nuclear power“, concluded the minister.
