(Finance) – There are about 5 million Italians who will have to switch to free market for electricity by 10 January 2024 but, if they do not do it independently, their supply will be assigned ex officio and by auction to a new operator. These are the rules defined by Ministerial Decree entered into force today which establishes the criteria and methods for the transition to the free market of non-vulnerable domestic customers. The tariff conditions to which these customers will be able to access will be defined later, but if you want to avoid “ending up at auction”, the solution is to switch to the free market by autonomously choosing the supplier from which to purchase energy from among the numerous offers available today . The phenomenon is considerable: in the last year alone, the number of those who have been victims of a scam or an attempted fraud in the field of electricity and gas utilities has increased by 28%, with an estimated damage of over 1.2 billion euros.
