Google, one of the largest companies in the world, has made an important move focusing on artificial intelligence studies. Google has made a move to bring back former employee and industry leading expert Noam Shazeer.
Noam Shazeer is an American computer scientist and entrepreneur known for his contributions in the field of artificial intelligence and deep learning, transformative models and natural language processing. His first major success was improving the spelling corrector for the Google search engine.
After working at Google for 21 years, Shazeer founded his own startup Character.AI in 2021. This platform allows users to interact with fictional characters and public figures.
Google agreed to pay this huge amount to license Character.AI’s technology for the return of Shazeer.
THAT OPPORTUNITY WAS MISSED
Shazeer stated the reason for leaving Google was the company’s refusal to make a chatbot called Meena available to the public in 2021 due to security concerns. A year later, OpenAI released ChatGPT, revealing that Google had missed a huge opportunity.
