Founder of software giant Microsoft Bill Gates says that he intends to give away practically his entire property.
Gates wrote in his tweets on Wednesday that he plans to donate 20 billion dollars to his charitable foundation the Gates Foundation already this month.
His future plans include practically donating his entire fortune to a foundation and moving away from the list of the world’s richest people.
Gates justifies his decision by the fact that the world has faced several global shocks in recent years, such as the corona pandemic, Russia’s attack on Ukraine, climate change, and a step back in gender equality in the United States.
He feels it is his duty to return his assets to society in such a way that they would best reduce suffering and improve life.
– I hope that others in a very wealthy and privileged position would also bear responsibility in this situation, he wrote.
