On Saturday night, Russia attacked Kiev with Shahed drones and five people were injured, reports AFP and refers to Ukrainian authorities.
In total, 71 Russian drones were shot down, and according to the Ukrainian Air Force, it is the largest attack since the full-scale war broke out on February 24, 2022.
Several fires have broken out
Kyiv’s mayor Vitaly Klytchko writes on Telegram that the flight alert has been going on for six hours and that a residential area has been hit.
“The enemy continues with his terror,” he writes, according to AFP.
Several fires have been reported in the Solomyansky district, and a preschool is also said to have caught fire. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, the attack knocked out an overhead line – leaving 77 residential buildings and 120 facilities without power.
Russia has attacked Kiev regularly during the nights since Putin’s war of invasion broke out. But Kiev’s air defenses have been strengthened recently. Therefore, deaths and injuries are increasingly uncommon in connection with attacks like this, writes TT.
