During the night, Trump continues his victory streak to be named the Republican presidential candidate. Also in the states of Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, Massachusetts, Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Maine, he is early declared the winner of, among other things CNN, according to preliminary results.
During the so-called Super Tuesday in the United States, a third of the delegates are at stake when voters in 16 states vote in the primaries.
Today’s results are therefore a strong indicator of which two will run for the Republicans and the Democrats respectively in the presidential election on November 5.
Super Tuesday has been described as the last chance in the race for Trump’s only challenger – former UN ambassador Nikki Haley.
Haley has previously only won one primary election victory in the capital district of the District of Columbia. When the polling stations in twelve of Super Tuesday’s states closed, she had not brought home a single one.
Biden superior
Joe Biden, who has no serious challenger on the Democratic side, has so far taken home victories in all voting states except the American territory of Samoa during the night’s battle, according to AP.
To become a presidential candidate, a majority of the total of 2,469 delegates is required.
Results continue to roll in early Wednesday morning.
