Mona Brorsson has raced her very last biathlon race.
Now we pay tribute to the blue-yellow crowd favorite on its 34th birthday.
And she gives new information about the future after the active career.
Already in 2015 did Mona Brorsson debut at the World Cup and nine years later it is now time to say goodbye. She has been part of a lot throughout her career and has experienced the Swedish women’s national team go from a fairly mediocre level to one of the world’s best national teams.
Brorsson has always been the reliable teammate who made everyone around him better. There, relays have been her specialty with an Olympic gold, an Olympic silver and a World Cup silver, as well as 17 podium places at World Cups.

Individually, she has had to fight really hard for success and there have been two podium places at the World Cup and two European Championship golds on her own. Now it’s time to sum up her entire biathlon career and, like the great teammate she is, she chooses a special moment as her very best memory.
Mona’s future
Namely when Hanna Öberg won Olympic gold in the women’s distance race in 2018.
– It is still one of the coolest memories I have and it always will be. The reason it was so big was because it was so genuine, so genuine because that was the starting point for our team. Our team’s journey towards recovery, says Brorsson to Expressen.
– It felt like it was a bit of my win too. Me and Hanna joined the team at the same time, so we have really stuck together for many years and followed each other’s development, seen personal strengths and weaknesses. Encouraged each other when it was hard. When she stepped up there, it was like the whole team won. It was WE who had succeeded. It was really cool.

Now a completely new everyday life awaits Mona, who turns 34 today, with much more time to spare and more interaction with loved ones.
– We’ll see if they still like me, they might get tired. No, but I think it will be great. Above all, having the opportunity to control my time and not feel that I have to prioritize biathlon. I have always chosen biathlon, I have no regrets, but the longer I have been doing it, the more I have felt that I would like to have more time and not feel that I need to say no to things, she tells the evening newspaper.

Mona Brorsson has no idea what she will do here next. But by finishing with the flag on top and having her best season in her career, she has gained financial security with over 700,000 kroner earned this winter.
– The last few years haven’t been super good for me, so it’s great. I have nothing else, so I am completely dependent on my prize money. And above all now when you want to be able to take a summer holiday, I don’t want to have to throw myself into something without having felt it out a bit. I want to be able to take a break. Then it’s good to have a few kroner left over, she says in the interview.
