The design error in the special DualSense Edge controller released by Sony for its 30th anniversary drew the reaction of PlayStation fans.
Sony released the PS5 consoles and accessories specially produced in honor of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary last week. The DualSense Edge controller included in this special series attracted the reaction of fans due to an error in its design. The 30th anniversary version, which has different colored analog sticks than the standard DualSense Edge, contains non-replaceable parts in case of problems in the future.
DualSense Edge’s Gray Analog Sticks Cannot Be Replaced
As Reddit users pointed out, the analog sticks of the 30th anniversary DualSense Edge controller are a different color than the standard model. Although this situation makes sense in terms of appearance, it will turn into a big problem if wear or drift problems occur over time. Because although the DualSense Edge has easily replaceable analog sticks, Sony’s website only sells replacement analog sticks in black.
So, if the gray analog sticks of the 30th anniversary DualSense Edge controller are somehow damaged, the black replacement parts will ruin the controller’s special design. This disappointed players who saw the DualSense Edge as security against drift problems and bought it for its unique appearance.
Some users recommend not installing the gray analog sticks at all and using them less often to prevent wear. However, this solution reduces the comfort provided by DualSense Edge and the excitement of the special design.
Although it is a big disappointment, the limited production of the 30th anniversary DualSense Edge controller means that a much smaller user base will experience this problem. Still, it is obvious that Sony should design special edition controllers by considering the colors of the replaceable parts.
