Oxford County-area foodies who want to support a worthy charity while exploring the local culinary scene can now take advantage of the annual Rally for Restaurants.
The fourth annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County fundraiser encourages Oxford County folks to support, shop and eat local through a $25 coupon book that actually offers more than $300 in savings. This year’s Rally includes 36 participating businesses throughout the county and offers 43 coupons in total.
While Rally for Restaurants does have a focus on dining, there are variety of businesses – from bakeries and cheese shops to cafés and ice creameries taking part in the fundraiser. There’s even indoor golf for people who want to work on their game.
The Rally for Restaurants fundraiser was a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. After Big Brothers Big Sisters was forced to cancel its annual Battle of the Hors d’Oeuvres event, the agency quickly pivoted to a fundraiser that would also promote local businesses. The success of this new fundraiser helped Big Brothers Big Sisters continue its mentoring programs.
The books are available for purchase online at bbbsoxford.ca and at both the agency’s Ingersoll and Woodstock officers during regular business hours. The agency is also offering a discount for bulk purchases. Those who order 20 or more will only pay $20 per book. Bulk orders can be placed by contacting Nicole Killaire at [email protected].
“They make an amazing gift for employees, clients, family and friends,” Big Brothers Big Sisters officials said in a release.
All of the coupons in the book are valid from July 1 and have a minimum expiry date of Sept 30, but a number of participants have opted to extend that. An example of the coupon book can be seen online at oxford.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/event/bbbs-rally-for-restaurants/.
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is serving young people in the community who are facing adversity, and come from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and experiences. Through a variety of programming, including mentorship, these youth enjoy positive experiences in recreation, skill development, teamwork and communication while developing a sense of belonging and greater confidence.
