It’s time to warm up your voice! Apple Music is about to deploy the Sing function to allow its users to sing along to their favorite songs. And it’s not just about displaying and scrolling through the lyrics – which Apple’s audio streaming service has been doing since 2019 – but about synchronizing them with their voice. Deployed during the month of December 2022, Apple Music Sing will allow budding singers to control the flow of the lyrics to sing at the same time as the artist or ahead of him. The lyrics will benefit from animations to better direct them, and the singing contests with several will be easier thanks to a distinct display of the lyrics. Enough to offer one of the best karaoke systems on the market!
Apple Music Sing: everything for karaoke
Apple Music Sing will implement a real karaoke system. From now on, the lyrics will be displayed syllable by syllable – and no longer line by line – with real-time highlighting to allow the user to sing in rhythm – it takes at least that. Much like the famous game did Singstar at the time! A button in the shape of a microphone will allow you to control the volume of the lyrics in order to take the upper hand over the singer or the singer – impossible, however, to completely suppress their voice -, to sing along or to choose an in-between in order to be still a little supported by the artist. The display is also improving since, in the event of a duo, the screen will split into two so that everyone can follow their game correctly. Finally, when there are choirs, the main voice will appear larger so as not to tangle the brushes.
Initially, Apple Music Sing will only be available on “only” 10 million songs, out of the 100 million in the catalog. Of course, their number should increase thereafter. All are accessible from the Explore tab, in dedicated playlists. Moreover, on the occasion of the launch of the new function, Apple will offer 50 dedicated playlists with titles that have made the success of karaoke around the world – will it dare to include The Lakes of Connemara? “The Apple Music Lyrics experience is consistently one of the most popular features of our service.“, says Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Beats, in A press release. “We already know that our users around the world like to follow their favorite songs, so we wanted to evolve this offer to allow even more engagement around music through singing. It’s really a lot of fun, our customers will love it .”
The Sing function is included at no extra cost in the Apple Music subscription, with the exception of Apple Music Voice – the €4.99 per month formula allowing the service to be used only via Siri – and will be available on iPhone, iPad and the new Apple TV 4K – no Macs on the horizon just yet, but maybe in a second. Apple signs here one of the most impressive karaoke systems on the market. Of course, budding singers can always use specific videos on YouTube, or even display the lyrics in real time on Deezer and Spotify, but nothing too advanced. Spotify has announced that it will also launch a “Sing” function at the end of June 2022, which should also allow the application to judge the user’s performance, but only a small number of people have access to it for the moment. In any case, Apple subscribers will be able to sing “this chorus that pleases you” for the end of year celebrations. And boost sales of noise canceling headphones at the same time.
