The news that the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, gave the green light for Ukraine to strike Russian territory with long-range missiles provided by Washington, has occupied the world public opinion.
KREMLIN: A NEW STAGE IN TENSION
Regarding the issue, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that there was “a new phase in the tension” and said, “This radically changes the way they (Americans) are involved in the conflicts in Ukraine.”
“THE MISSILES THEMSELVES TALK”
Following the developments, “Will World War 3 break out?” The question was at the center of the discussions. While there was no official announcement by the White House or the Pentagon for Biden’s instruction that could change the course of the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said, “Such things are not announced to the public, the missiles themselves speak.”
PENTAGON DID NOT CONFIRM THE INSTRUCTIONS
According to breaking news, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) did not confirm the news that the US administration would give Ukraine the opportunity to use long-range American weapons on Russian territory on a limited basis.
“THERE IS NO DETAIL I CAN GIVE ABOUT THIS”
Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh informed journalists at a press conference held closed to cameras. In response to questions about the news in the US media over the weekend that the Joe Biden administration will take a new step regarding Ukraine and allow the limited use of long-range American weapons on Russian territory, Singh said, “I have no details on this issue.” he replied.
Singh stated that he had seen the news in question but “could not confirm” and refrained from commenting despite persistent questions. According to the news of the American Washington Post (WP) newspaper, based on two senior US officials, it was reported that the US administration gave permission to Ukraine to use the long-range tactical missile systems (ATACMS) it supplied to Ukraine in a limited way on Russian territory.
It was claimed that this decision was influenced by the fact that approximately 10 thousand North Korean soldiers were brought to the Kursk region by Russia to fight against Ukraine. This step, which Ukraine has requested for a long time but has not given the green light to the US administration until now, was considered an important decision of the Biden administration, which lost the elections, before Donald Trump, who won the elections, came to the White House.
“THE NEW MINISTER HAS THE RIGHT NOT TO WORK WITH PEOPLE WHO HE THINK WILL HAVE TRUST PROBLEMS”
Deputy spokesman Singh also stated that there has been no contact in the Pentagon yet regarding the handover to the new administration to be established by Trump, who was elected as the new US President on November 5, and reiterated that they are ready for a smooth transition. When asked about the allegations that the new defense minister appointed by the Trump administration would terminate the duties of senior military officials, Singh said that he was not the spokesman of the Trump era and did not want to comment on hypothetical allegations.
Singh said, “The Minister of Defense and the entire army are under the command of the US President. The new minister has the right not to work with people he thinks will have trust issues. I do not want to go through hypotheses about whether the positions of those he does not want will be changed or they will be dismissed completely.” he said.
