US President Joe Biden stated on Tuesday that he will travel to Vietnam “soon”.
The trip is part of an effort to strengthen ties with Vietnam, against the backdrop of tensions between the US and China.
“I will be going to Vietnam shortly because Vietnam wants to change our relationship and become a partner,” read a statement from Biden, who is currently in the US state of New Mexico.
The White House has not provided any further details on when the trip will take place.
