If Israel starts an attack on the Rafah population centers, the United States will suspend, among other things, the export of artillery ammunition to Israel, warns Joe Biden.
President of the United States Joe Biden has said for the first time that the United States will suspend the supply of artillery ammunition and certain weapons to Israel if the country’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu orders a major ground operation in Rafah in southern Gaza.
In addition to Biden, the news channel admitted CNN’s in an interview that Israel has used US-supplied bombs to kill Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
The US stopped the delivery of 3,500 bombs to Israel last week. The decision was made by the Biden administration when it appeared that Israel was on the verge of a large-scale ground operation against Rafah.
Israel has long threatened to attack Rafah, where there are currently well over two million people who have fled the fighting.
– I have made it clear to Bibi (Netanyahu) and the war cabinet: they will not get our support if they attack [Rafahin] to population centers, Biden stated.
In recent days, Israel has carried out airstrikes on Rafah. On Tuesday, Israel also rolled tanks into the area, but has described the operation as limited.
So far, Israel has not crossed the red line in Rafah, says Biden.
Many members of the Democratic Party have recently strongly demanded that Biden suspend arms deliveries to Israel at the same time as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens.
According to Biden, the United States will continue to supply defense weapons to Israel.
