Aid to Ukraine still blocked in the US Parliament as the war led by Russia continues to rage. The country no longer receives almost anything from the United States, or only a few symbolic crumbs.

It has been more than four months now since the massive aid that the American administration requested forUkraine is blocked in the House of Representatives. There are sixty billion dollars worth of weapons, ammunition and defensive systems. A text, already voted on by the Senate, has still not been put to a vote by Mike Johnson, the Republican speaker of the other part of Parliament, the House of Representatives. He says he is in favor of it but the most radical members of his majority threaten to bring him down if he moves in this direction. President Joe Biden has had enough and is making it known.

The war in Ukraine can end if the leader of the House of Representatives allows a vote. The majority of Democrats and Republicans overwhelmingly support Ukraine. A vote should take place now. »

In the meantime, the United States is scraping the bottom line. A few weeks ago, the country announced that it had saved enough on certain contracts in last year’s defense budget to send $300 million worth of ammunition, including shells. The Pentagon announces the sale, and not the donation, of anti-aircraft system improvement contracts for 138 million. Iranian weapons intended for Houthi rebels and seized by the American navy are also sent to kyiv. Light weapons that do not really meet the needs. And it is undoubtedly also a way of showing that there is now an urgency.
