US President Joe Biden discussed climate change with King Charles during his visit to the UK.
Biden was flown in the Marine One helicopter from 10 Downing Street in central London where he met Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to Windsor Castle – where he was received with a military honor guard.
The meeting between the president and the king is the first since Charles was formally crowned head of state in May. Then Biden did not attend and instead sent his wife Jill to the ceremony.
During Monday’s meeting, climate finance and increased support for developing countries to reduce carbon dioxide emissions were discussed.
King Charles is a long-time environmentalist and Biden considers him a “clear voice” when it comes to climate change, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said ahead of the meeting of the heads of state.
