In the United States, the president Joe Biden announces that he has pardoned his son Hunter Biden.
In this way, Biden reverses his previous comments, because, for example, back in the summer, the president said that he was not going to pardon his son or commute his sentence.
In June, a jury found Hunter Biden guilty of three different firearms offenses. A jury found the president’s son lied to a federally licensed gun dealer about his drug use to get a firearm. Biden had also illegally possessed a gun for 11 days. The court is scheduled to issue its verdict in the case on December 12.
Biden is also scheduled to be sentenced on December 16 in a separate criminal case related to tax evasion charges. He has pleaded guilty to the crime.
President Biden’s pardon applies to both his son’s gun and tax convictions.
