For the first time during his time as president, Joe Biden has attended the annual press dinner in Washington. His upcoming opponent in the presidential election, Donald Trump, not unexpectedly received a couple of sour passes in connection with Biden’s speech, among other things, 77-year-old Trump’s age was questioned by Biden, himself 81 years old.
– One candidate is too old and not mentally fit to be president … the other is me, said 81-year-old Biden, among other things, according to Politico.
In his speech, Trump’s misstatements about how he said that he was running against Barack Obama and not Biden were highlighted, but the current president also made a bit of a fool of himself, including that the dinner was actually long after bedtime for him. It became more serious when Biden accused Trump of “ruining the economy” and “embarrassing the United States” on the world stage.
The annual dinner has been held since 1885 and every sitting president of the United States has now attended at least once.
