Biden in the ABC interview: “I was sick”

Last night, an interview with US President Joe Biden was broadcast on ABC news. It was his first televised appearance since his criticized performance in the debate against Donald Trump.

In the debate, Biden gave the impression of being slow, stumbling over words and occasionally losing focus.

  • Demand his resignation

Demands for him to withdraw his candidacy have been raised and the interview in ABC news is seen as a last-ditch attempt to convince party colleagues, financiers and voters.

Four Democrats in the House of Representatives – Mike Quigley of Illinois, Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, Lloyd Doggett of Texas and Raúl Grijalva of Arizona – have called for Biden’s resignation.

During Friday night, Biden said during a campaign meeting that he will “run and win again.” He was equally convinced during the interview:

    – I am the most suitable person to win over Trump, he said.

    “I was exhausted”

He blames his performance in the debate on not feeling well:

    – It was a bad performance. I was sick and I felt terrible. I was exhausted.

He says he was tested for the virus, but that he only had a bad cold.

    – There are no signs of any serious illness.

In the interview, he is asked if he believes he has the physical and mental capacity to serve four more years as president.

    – Yes I have. Otherwise I would not have stood as a candidate, he says.
