President of the United States Joe Biden started a historic trip to the Amazon rainforest on Sunday.
The 81-year-old Biden is the first sitting US president to visit the Amazon rainforest.
Biden’s plane landed in the Brazilian city of Manaus on Sunday.
Biden is scheduled to fly a helicopter over the rainforest, visit a museum and meet with local leaders working to protect the Amazon rainforest.
The Amazon visit is part of Biden’s tour of South America.
Having won the presidential election Donald Trump’s it is feared that Climate Cooperation will be pushed into crisis.
From Manaus, Biden will continue to Rio de Janeiro for the G20 summit, which starts tomorrow, Monday.
Before Biden’s visit to the Amazon, the White House announced that the United States had reached its goal of increasing US climate funding to $11 billion a year.
