The US wants to bring about “at least a six-week” pause in the fighting in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. The key elements are on the table for a deal that would allow time for the release of hostages and humanitarian aid in Gaza.
This was said by President Joe Biden after a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan at the White House.
Biden also pressed that civilians in Rafah in southern Gaza must be protected as Israel prepares a ground operation in an area of over a million Palestinian civilians.
