The work in the United States Congress risks being paralyzed after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, was ousted in a historic vote. Now President Joe Biden is calling for a quick solution.
According to Biden, there is no time to wait given the many challenges facing the country, including an approaching budget shutdown and ending aid for Ukraine.
But it could take weeks to choose a new speaker. There is currently no given candidate. It took 15 votes to elect the now ousted McCarthy.
