– I just pass before the curve and quickly feel that there was not so much space and it was quite icy but it didn’t matter today, says Samuelsson to SVT Sport about the duel with Johannes Thingnes Bö.
It was probably doubtful whether it would be enough for a medal if Samuelsson was on his legs, but you do not know.
– If he had not fallen, he would have been a medal every day of the week, says the third stretch Martin Ponsiluoma about the drama in Lenzerheide.
“Gets stressed and shoots two quick booms”
When Samuelsson came in to the last shooting, he had hanged on the bronze after the Czech Michal Krcmar had to take two extra shoots, but Samuelsson also had to take two extra shoots. And also Norway’s Johannes Tingnes Bö mixed in the bronze struggle.
– I have a good plan but get stressed and shoot on two quick booms and come to myself: “But sharpen you now”. With a normal zero, we had taken a medal, says Samuelsson.
France won before the Czech Republic and Germany where it was tight behind about two to six.
It became an incredible slug in to the goal and then Samuelsson fell in an inner curve, fell on his own grip, and it ended with a fifth place after Norway which also missed a medal.
Hanna Öberg on the second stretch had brought up Sweden to ninth place, just over half a minute up to the podium, after her first initial lying flawless shooting.
“The more difficult it becomes”
Then it raged in the second standing shooter with a penalty round (four booms) and Öberg switched nine, lost nothing in placement, but was now 1.57 after France in the lead and had 1.11 up to the podium.
– The longer you stand, the more difficult it gets and I start shaking and missing in the timing. I am obviously very disappointed that I did not get the dot with the extra shots I have, which is very expensive. Had I managed to get it down, there would have been a small, small opportunity with two strong stretches of the guys, says Öberg.
Emilien Jacquelin trembled and had to take a criminal round for France in the last shooter but the team was so superior that you could win by a large margin anyway.
