Biathlon: Peppe Femling ends his career – was dismissed in the royal crown

Peppe Femling has a difficult season behind him and has previously flagged that this weekend’s World Cup race could be the last of his career.

And so it will be.

When Femling crossed the finish line as 45th at the start of today’s chase, the Swedish team welcomed him with a royal crown, champagne and applause.

– A hell of a reception. I lost it a little, says a moved Femling after the race.

Femling is celebrated

Femling has been a regular part of the Swedish national team for many years and was, among other things, part of the relay team that won gold during the Olympics in Pyeongchang.

– He has meant an incredible amount to the team and to my career. I don’t think I would have become as good as I am, if it weren’t for Peppe, says Sebastian Samuelsson.

– A big loss for us in the team. A safe point that will be sorely missed, says Jesper Nelin.

Johannes Lukas was in tears after the announcement and showered praise on Femling.

– He has kept this team together the whole time. He is a great person and a very good teammate. He is more than an athlete to me.

The announcement means that the national biathlon team will be two profiles poorer next season. Mona Brorsson has also previously announced that she is ending her career.
