The Slovakian was noted for three misses and it remains to be seen what she will get for the final position.
– Today she missed too many shots, of course, but it was a quick ride and it can be better, says expert Björn Ferry after Kuzmina’s comeback.
She retired in March 2019 but made a first comeback at the European Championships last year in Banska Bystrica, her hometown in Slovakia, where she finished 59th in the sprint. A short time later, she also took part in the WC sprint in Nove Mesto and was 61st.
Gold in three Olympic Games in a row
Now it was time again for Kuzmina, who made her season debut in Oberhof’s sprint over 7.5 km when biathlon restarted after the Christmas break. She replaced Paulina Batovska Fialkova in the Slovak team.
Kuzmina was born in Tiumen with the surname Shipulina and is the sister of the Russian biathlete Anton Shipulin. Already in December 2008, she switched to Slovakia, where she won her three Olympic golds and three silvers during the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Games.
