– It was almost perfect except for the last shot, but I’m super happy. It’s funny when a small team like Latvia can challenge a big one like France, says Bendika to SVT Sport.
She was 5.7 seconds off the bronze – and became second best mother after silver medalist Justine Braisaz-Bouchet
– It was mother power today, I was the second best mother.
“Hard to see a little baby sick”
To go from giving birth to challenging for medals in 4.5 months is an achievement in itself.
– It has not been easy. There have been challenges, but you have to adapt and it has given so many positive feelings, which has been so wonderful, explains Bendika.
It was a difficult time after the birth of the children.
– After the birth, both I and Emil had health problems, which affected the psyche. It has been difficult to see a little baby sick, but I am happy that he is and that the whole family is here, says Bendika, who does not want to elaborate on what kind of problem arose.
– I keep that to myself, says the Latvian.
