Biathlon: Linn Gestblom on the injury time – and the comeback: “I see everything before Christmas as a bonus”

Hear Linn Gestblom about what has been most difficult and about the hope for a comeback in terms of time.

It was in February that she was forced to go under the knife a second time to fix a shoulder injury.

Linn Gestblom (formerly Persson) now does what she can to get her body ready for competition.

– Everything is going as it should and it’s fun to see that you are taking steps all the time, she tells SVT Sport.

– I’ve had two operations and have little to compare it to. This one is tougher. I have been in more pain, and the shoulder has been stiffer. It has been a longer process. It hasn’t progressed every day, but by and large it has flowed along.

Need more time

She admits that it takes “a few months” until the body is ready for competition.

– I will have to adjust how I can load, when I can train and the like. There is still work to be done.

The goal is clear

However, it is too early to give an exact race or an exact date.

– My goal right now is to get good in the shoulder. Of course, I hope to be able to compete this winter and also be able to perform. We’ll see when that happens. This assumes that the rehab goes well, which nothing currently contradicts. But you never know if something happens along the way.

– It is important that I feel strong enough to run a full session with two poles. We can start there and then see when I’m ready to start and when I can run more distances and/or races in a weekend.

Linn Gestblom has, among other things, won six WC medals, two Olympic medals and three individual podium places in the World Cup.
