Yesterday Johannes Thingnes Bö won the overall World Cup and today came the next triumph. The Norwegian giant was in a class by far in the last competition of the season.
After three straight zeroes, Thingnes Bö entered the last shot of the mass start in a lead of almost a minute. Although the Norwegian trembled and missed a shot, he was never threatened.
Thingnes Bö won the mass start by 45 seconds ahead of compatriot Johannes Dale. Emilien Jacquelin finished third, despite a trill in the bar.
– The world’s best biathlete is completely superior, says SVT’s commentator Ola Bränholm about Thingnes Bö.
Today’s win was the Norwegian’s 85th in his career. Thus, he has only ten victories left to Ole Einar Björndalen’s record.
Heavy for the Swedish team
It was more difficult for the Swedish team. Martin Ponsiluoma certainly showed brilliant riding form, but four barriers was one too many to be able to interfere in the podium fight. Ponsiuloma finished sixth, fifteen seconds out of third place.
– Weak shooting. Now I know what I have to work on for next season, says Ponsiluoma.
It was worse for Sebastian Samuelsson. Yesterday’s hunting start two missed three shots in the opening shooting and then there were four more misses, before Samuelsson was able to move into 29th place.
