Biathlon: Hanna Öberg out of shape – misses the hunt start: “Tough for her”

It is the best 60 who get to ride the start of the chase and after three barriers and slow riding (every 59th in the track 1.44 after Anamarija Lampic) it remains to be seen if Öberg gets to ride Sunday’s relay.

– She is at least one minute behind herself in the track, says SVT Sports expert Björn Ferry.

Hanna Öberg won a test competition before the Swedish premiere in Idre a month ago but then got sick and has had a tough start to the season to say the least.

– It’s still tough for her, but if you lie in bed for two weeks, you don’t feel very well in your body and we have to analyze how we should go forward, says national team coach Johannes Lukas to SVT Sport.

“Not alarming”

How alarming is it when the ride looks like it does?

– It is not alarming because there is a clear explanation. Before the illness, she was a little behind Elvira, but still clearly the second Swede, says Lukas.

What does the plan look like for Hanna?

– We thought the training went well and wanted to compete in the body and we’ll see what she says herself before we make a good plan going forward. She is obviously disappointed, says Lukas, who wants to settle down with Hanna Öberg tonight.

The score line was 25-13-24 in the individual races in the premiere in Kontiolax and today the star was first in 66th place.

– It has felt as if the increase has not come, but it is the weakest ride so far and that is worrying, says Björn Ferry.
