Biathlon: Elvira Öberg’s fear of the dam in France: “It’s about being prepared”

Öberg is looking forward to the last stop before Christmas in Le Grand Bornand, where she will finish third in the overall World Cup.

What do you like about this place?

– Above all, I have many great memories: I have won here three times and above all I took my very first victory here and I like the tracks and there are fantastic audiences – this is something extra, says Öberg.

The audience, which can be counted in 20-25,000, comes close to the shooting range and provides a very special setting.

– It’s not me they yell at the most, but be prepared for if I’m inside and shooting at the same time as someone French, I’ll hear how she shoots. It’s about being prepared that it will be loud.

“Glad we’re not competing on Thursday”

The forecast calls for rain on Thursday when the men run their sprint. It looks better for Friday and Saturday, while Sunday looks difficult with rain and many plus degrees.

– I’m glad we’re not competing on Thursday. Friday looks just fine. You just have to like the situation, but Sunday looks tough, predicts Öberg.

Sensation Ella Halvarsson will be part of a new experience in terms of sound volume and noisy conditions.

– It’s bad at the IBU and the Swe Cup. It’s not quite the same there. You will hear when the French sisters arrive and they will be cheered on. It might almost be nice if they do it to me and I get in well at my own pace, says Halvarsson and laughs.
