Most people probably had Elvira Öberg as the winner of the biathlon sprint in Idre in advance – and she certainly lived up to expectations.
– Great to see her in normal shape out on the tracks, says SVT’s expert Mona Brorsson.
Öberg, on the other hand, barely had time to start driving before the accident happened.
– It was bad, I started by taking a small tumble in the curve on the first lap, I was up again quite quickly, she says and laughs.
In the end, the star was a full 50 seconds ahead of runner-up Anna-Karin Heijdenberg. It was also triple Swedish on the podium when A-team debutant Ella Halvarsson grabbed third place despite three misses.
Öberg was the stability himself in the horizontal shooting with his five complete hits and gained a narrow lead immediately.
In the second shooting, however, she missed two shots, but the 25-year-old was by far the fastest in the track with a very strong last lap, and when the Swedish competitors also accounted for three barriers each, it was done and done.
– That is her strength and always has been, there she can bring out powers that don’t exist, says Brorsson.
